This reading was about love and finding the one u are meant to be with, and knowing that you are settled and happy. It spoke about how you know you are not in love when and if someone better comes along to are quick to leave your spouse for them. Many people jump to the idea of money and luxury, when really the emotional attachment is what will make a good relationship last. The reading also lets you know that if you are set on finding on specific type of guy or girl the chances are you will find them, but will they be looking for you? It gives you a really good understanding of going after those who will accept you for who you are and not what you come from.

This reading was about policer officers as well as higher officials, doing what is needed to prevent danger. The reading talked about 2 acts of murder, that were done by officials, against suspected terrorists. The point behind the readings were basically to let the reader realize that desperate times call for desperate measures. Sometimes, when someone is thought to be doing something extremely wrong, such as terrorists attacks, officials have to go after them and brutally kill them without giving them a chance to speak. The first story spoke of how an officer killed someone who was disabled yet could still have the ability to kill him or someone else. It seems wrong and immoral to kill a disabled person but when your life is on the line, in that split second you do what you have to do. I think that both of these stories called for desperate measures because you never know what someone is capable of.

This reading was about the effects and meaning of war. It was written by a former solider who experienced first hand what war was like. He explained that "war makes the world understandable." He believes that it comes along with many challenges, however, certain situations require it. He spoke about his own medical issues and what he has gone through during the time period that he was at war. He had been held captive, had a nervous twitch, expected to die numerous times, and was evacuated by the U.S. embassy three times. It was interesting to read the part where he said, "There is a part of me-maybe it is a part of many of us-that decided at certain moments that I would rather die like this than go back to the routine of life." That part stuck out to me because when you are in a situation such as war, you see a whole new world, and its almost as if going back to normal everyday life is not moral anymore after seeing what goes on over seas.
