Page 626 Reading Response- DNA Test

I thought that this reading was interesting because a classroom of students who thought they knew their backgrounds, got to get a DNA test done to see if there is some ethnicity inside them that they aren't sure about. A lot of them who were black, ended up having some type of whiteness in them, like Irish. Even though they acquired these genes, people still judge them by what they see on the outside. However, one person said that even though he found out he has some type of white gene inside of him, he is not just going to begin acting white all of the sudden. I believe that if you don't know your DNA makeup for a good majority of your life and then you discover what it is, it is completely up to you whether or not you want to bring that part of you out into the open, or if you just want to remain the way you have been living. I personally do not think its necessary to change the way you act just because you find out part of you is white, black, asian, or any type of other culture.
